Delta Power Tools, Equipment and Accessories
Delta Power Equipment Corporation’s roots are planted in the one-car garage of the company’s founder, Herbert Tautz. Back in 1919, the Milwaukee resident created the Delta Specialty Company, focusing on the challenges specific to woodworking. Among Tautz’ first inventions were the world’s first scroll saw, named the “American Boy”, and the Delta “HandiShop”, a motorized combo tool consisting of a lathe, disc sander, and scroll saw.
Throughout the early 1930s and into the height of the depression, Delta Machinery forged ahead, creating the first of their famous line of band saws. During the World War II era, Delta played a huge role in the war effort, contributing to the production of numerous ships, weapons, aircraft and supplies for use in defense of the country. After the war, Delta Machinery was purchased by the Rockwell Manufacturing Company and soon entered additional tool markets, including the development of the world’s first motorized miter saw.
Today, Delta Machinery operates under the Black & Decker corporate umbrella, giving the parent company a strong foothold in the professional power tool market. Delta remains a premium brand of pro quality woodworking tools and, in the spirit of founder Herbert Tautz, continues as a pioneer and innovator in woodworking. Current product offerings include the Biesemeyer Fence systems as well as a variety of stationary woodworking tools including electric table saws, band saws, radial arm saws, scroll saws, drilling machines, jointers, planers, mortisers, lathes, grinders and dust collectors for the professional and advanced woodworking markets. |
